Rainbow 6 Vegas 2: Multiplayer Impressions
After witnessing a multiplayer match of Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 for the 360 I was happy to see that they had worked off the previous games style and simply made additions that have proved popular in other FPS games that followed the original. Below I have listed a bunch of the features that I think will make the biggest difference to the gameplay:
The ‘ACES’ SystemThe ACES system is the name of the new and improved ranking system in place in the new Vegas game. It follows a similar nature to that of Call Of Duty by which you get points for kills, bomb arming, etc but an addition to this is the fact that depending on HOW you kill the opponent will give varied points. A challenges system is also incorporated into this giving points for ‘x’ SMG kills, or ‘x’ headshots. The Gun Shop
From what I can gather from a talk with a member of the Vegas 2 team is that guns nd upgrades will need to be purchased from the shop by trading in your hard earned ‘ACES’ points. This, in my opinion, is a very good feature as it allows the user to vary their gameplay experience how they see fit and buy equipment to suit their gameplay style. Bullet Penetration
Thin walls and objects can now be shot through. Each gun has a varied penetration stat so some guns can shoot through thicker obsticals than others. No longer can someone hide behind a door, giggling down the microphone. Improved Ranking System
The ranking system now no longer relies on end of match bonuses as points are accumulated through kills and actions performed in the game, as well as an end of match bonus. Sprinting
No longer must you move slowly around a map, creep to every corner, stagger retardedly from cover across the map whilst bullets hail down on you. If you have played Call Of Duty 4 I think that the best way to describe this sequel is: Call Of Duty 4 + Rainbow 6: Vegas = Rainbow 6: Vegas 2 and don’t get me wrong this is in no way a bad thing.
